Council announcement: confirm before relying on itLos Alcázares has a clear council announcement of a 50% IBI bonus for solar. We could not read the ordinance article behind it, so this page tells you exactly what is confirmed and what is not.

How reliable is this page? Based on an official announcement published by the council, not on the ordinance text. Treat the figure as a lead to confirm, not as a quote.

Spanish councils may reduce two taxes for solar self-consumption: the IBI (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles, the annual property tax, by up to 50% under national law) and the ICIO (Impuesto sobre Construcciones, Instalaciones y Obras, paid once on the works, by up to 95%). Both are optional for each council, which is why the figures differ from town to town. Our comparison of 21 cities (in Spanish) shows how widely they vary.
PVGIS, the free tool of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, gives 1,715 kWh per year for each kWp installed at Los Alcázares (37.748, -0.856), with panels facing south at the optimal tilt (35°), 14% system losses and 2165 kWh/m² of yearly irradiation on the panels. A 5 kWp system would therefore produce roughly 8,575 kWh a year. A roof that does not face south, or that is shaded, will produce less: your installer should model your actual roof.

Ask the council in writing whether the 2021 announcement is still the rule in 2026 and which documents it needs; keep the answer.
The steps that are the same everywhere in Spain (registering the installation, the surplus-energy contract, what changes on your bill) are explained in our guide to solar panels in Spain for foreign homeowners.
Los Alcázares has the highest PVGIS figure in this guide (1,715 kWh per kWp), but PVGIS works on a grid, and nearby San Javier or Torrevieja differ by only a few per cent. Do not treat the gap as a reason to pick one town over another.
The coastal districts and the urbanisations of the municipality follow the same ordinances as the town.
The council announced in December 2021 a 50% reduction of the IBI for the first three years for homes and premises with photovoltaic panels. We could not read the ordinance text, so confirm with the council that it still applies.
All consulted on 2–3 October 2026. PVGIS: re.jrc.ec.europa.eu. Ordinances change, usually in the autumn for the following year: confirm the figure with the council before you sign.
