Council tax discounts in Alhama de Murcia

Spanish councils may reduce two taxes for solar self-consumption: the IBI (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles, the annual property tax, by up to 50% under national law) and the ICIO (Impuesto sobre Construcciones, Instalaciones y Obras, paid once on the works, by up to 95%). Both are optional for each council, which is why the figures differ from town to town. Our comparison of 21 cities (in Spanish) shows how widely they vary.

How much a system produces in Alhama de Murcia

PVGIS, the free tool of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, gives 1,644 kWh per year for each kWp installed at Alhama de Murcia town (37.851, -1.426), with panels facing south at the optimal tilt (35°), 14% system losses and 2130 kWh/m² of yearly irradiation on the panels. A 5 kWp system would therefore produce roughly 8,220 kWh a year. A roof that does not face south, or that is shaded, will produce less: your installer should model your actual roof.

Licence and paperwork in Alhama de Murcia

The ordinance covers works under licence and works under responsible declaration or prior notice with the same ICIO bonus (sections 6.2 and 7.2), so the route does not change the discount, but both require the municipal title to be in place.

The steps that are the same everywhere in Spain (registering the installation, the surplus-energy contract, what changes on your bill) are explained in our guide to solar panels in Spain for foreign homeowners.

Particularities for Alhama de Murcia

The €200 yearly cap means the IBI bonus is worth at most €600 over three years. In many homes the IBI bill is small enough that the cap is not reached; the calculator on this site applies it for you.

Condado de Alhama is a resort development: if your villa or apartment is in a residents’ community, the community’s rules on roofs and shared areas still apply on top of the council’s ordinances.

Condado de Alhama, the resort of villas and apartments around the golf course, is inside the municipality and follows the same ordinances.
